Gypsy Diamond Primed for 2015 Wagga Cup Success

April 30th, 2015

Talented mare Gypsy Diamond has returned to good condition for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden since returning to racing this autumn and is in prime condition for success in Friday’s featured 2015 Wagga Cup (2000m).

Gypsy Diamond was unable to make much of a competitive impact over her first campaign for the Snowdens during the Spring Carnival, but returned this time for a credible third in the Group 3 Liverpool City (1300m) on February 28th before a luckless run for fourth in the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1400m) three weeks later.

Bookending a disappointing performance for ninth in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) with a third place finish in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) and success in the Group 3 Japan Racing Associaton Plate (2000m) most recently, Paul Snowden told Racing Ahead the team is thrilled with the condition of the Not A Single Doubt mare and are hopeful she will salute for her local connections in the 2015 Wagga Cup.

“She’ll run in the Wagga Cup – the owners are obviously from the area and would love to win their home town Cup,” Snowden said.

“Her form is quite good with Leebaz winning last week so hopefully she can do justice for her owners and win the Cup there for them.”

Posting a career total of four wins and six minors through her 24 starts, Gypsy Diamond began her racing career under the guidance of John O’Shea; transferring to the Snowdens following their step away from Godolphin and O’Shea step into the role following the 2014 autumn.

Arguably finding career-best form to date through the 2014 Autumn Carnival, Gypsy Diamond ran a close second to Sweet Idea in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) first-up; placing fourth in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) and winning the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) on her way to an agonizingly-close second to Diamond Drille in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.
