Messene remains clear and outright $3 favourite in 2016 Wagga Cup betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Adirondack ($4.20) Iggi Pop ($8.50) and Reigning ($9.50).

Will Messene justify his favouritism and return to winning form in the Wagga Cup or will one of his classy rivals post an upset?

Adirondack ($4.20)

Adirondack has returned to racing in slick form this time, carries winning form into the Wagga Cup and represents terrific value at his current $4.20 quote for success. Beginning his career in the Godolphin system, Adirondack has posted a number of standout results for Shawn Mathrick since his arrival at the conclusion of 2015. Winning the Mitty’s BM70 (1800m) on March 5th, the Lonhro gelding was unlucky to finish second in the Stony Creek Cup (2100m) and fifth in the Bill Collins BM78 (2400m), but more than stamped his worth with a commanding five length win in the Gold Heath (2000m) last time out on April 16th. Drawn well in barrier 8, Adirondack will carry only 54kgs in the Wagga Cup.

Messene ($3)

Messene is likely to require luck in running from barrier 12 in the Wagga Cup, but his class is sure to count for a lot in what is something of a light field. Capping a typically smart 2015 preparation a close second in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m), the Lonhro gelding took a couple of runs to find form this time but finished second in each of the Group 3 Sky High Stakes (2000m) and Group 3 Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m). While unable to handle the late pace in the Group 3 Japan Racing Association Plate (2000m) on April 16th, Messene is sure to be delivered a gem of a ride from Blake Shinn on Friday.

Rhodin Drive ($11)

Consistent runner Rhodin Drive has found slick form through recent weeks and is more than worth consideration for a bet at current Wagga Cup odds. Posting an impressive career total of four wins and seven minors through twenty competitive starts, the Reset gelding ran a credible fifth in the ATC @ Gosford BM78 (1600m) on March 17th before finishing third in the talent-rich All Too Hard BM75 (2000m) on March 23rd. returning to winning form in the Bowermans Furniture BM77 (2200m), Rhodin Drive placed second in the James Boag’s Primium BM78 (2400m) on April 23rd and should receive a dream run on Friday from barrier 2.
